We have a vision of ensuring that our Lancashire School Games are inclusive to all young people and that we offer activities that are challenging, fun, provide some competitive aspects and embody the School Games values. All schools across Lancashire are encouraged to complete the Inclusive Health Check (IHC) which can be found by logging into your account on the Your School Games site. Last year, only 124 schools completed this and we would like to improve these numbers this year so that Inclusion is driven forward and considered a priority by all.
What is the IHC?
The Inclusive Health Check is a self-review tool available to School Games registered schools, School Games Organisers (SGOs), and School Games County Alliances on an annual basis. It allows its users to improve best practice, access key resources, and develop an action plan.
Completing our IHC, it threw up some questions for us; there were areas where we are confident that we are doing well as well as some areas that we feel we can make improvements. It also highlighted areas we felt were of our control and so by completing this, we will make sure that our work and planning addresses the areas in which we would like to improve.
As a partner organisation, we want to build our partnerships with others to improve our School Games offer and we are committed to ensuring that our School Games are inclusive, that they offer opportunities for all young people to compete, participate, develop new skills, socialise and have fun; this is why we would like to see many more IHC completions this year.
