Hannah Newell

Blackpool

Job title:

School Games Organiser - Blackpool

Job description:

I work closely with schools to offer high quality engagement opportunities as part of the School Games within Blackpool. We have a programme of events that run throughout the school year that offers competitions, festivals and development days for children of all ages and abilities. I also work as Active Lives Co-ordinator for Schools which involves contacting schools, getting children in the local area involved in sport and activities through the delivery of high quality coaching. We offer a variety of programs from nursery age through to sixth form students.

The best thing about being a School Games Organiser:

I have been involved in sport since the age of 3 and it has always been a huge part of my life so this job is perfect for me. Every day is different and it gives me the opportunity to work with so many amazing young people on a daily basis. I actually represented Blackpool myself in Lancashire School Games with my Primary School so have been directly in the position of lots of the young people I work with. I also competed in the National School Games Finals for North West at Don Valley stadium back in 2013, which were some of the best experiences I’ve had and also means I have seen first-hand the pathway through the School Games which has inspired me to be where I am today.

Fun fact:

I can walk on my hands in handstand for about 25m (I’ll try 100m one day) and I can do 10 back flips in a row.
